Shawnigan goes to WE Day
A delegation of Shawnigan students is currently enjoying "We Day" in Vancouver with Deputy Head, Jo-Anne Kingstone.

This is the description sent out by the event organizers:

Free The Children's We Day is more than just one day of celebration and inspiration. We Day is the movement of our time – a movement of young people leading local and global change.

Harnessing the energy and passion of a young community of changemakers, We Day brings youth together in an unparalleled setting to show them that they are not alone in their journey to make a difference.

Within stadiums full of cheering young people, We Day brings some of the greatest social issues of today to the forefront, and – no matter the cause, no matter the issue – provides ways in which every young person can find their place within the movement to create global change.

So far Shawnigan has sent the following text messages:

"It's amazing already and has just started!"

"We Day is the movement of our time!"
"Hearing Gorbachev was like taking a step back in time and learning lessons from the past. It almost didn't feel real hearing from someone I have learned about in History. What an amazing experience"

"I love hearing Gorbachev, Shaquille, and the Keilburgers speak about how they made a difference to their communities and countries. I am so happy I could be part of such a great event!"

"What I love about We Day is the number of speakers explaining and showing what can be done and what has already been done. I find it extremely inspirational and a lot of fun!"

"Half way through We Day and never want it to end! I have never been so inspired by so many great people. One of the greatest things I have heard so far is a reminder that anything is possible, no matter how young you are."
